The Office of the Penn Township Constable may assist, when requested, search-and-rescue support for missing or endangered persons when requested and when circumstances, location, available resources, and safety permit.

Constable Thompson has been involved in search-and-rescue training and activities since his teenage years and brings nearly two decades of related experience, along with a background in law enforcement, public safety, and emergency services.

Search support may include:

• Ground searching for missing, lost, or overdue persons

• Wilderness, park, trail, and rural-area searches

• Search planning and field coordination support

• Hasty or initial searches of trails, structures, access roads, and high-probability areas

• Assistance with establishing search areas, reporting points, and accountability

• Communications and field support

• Assistance locating vulnerable, confused, injured, or emotionally distressed persons

• Support to law-enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency-management, park, or other authorized personnel during organized searches

• Other search-related assignments based upon circumstances and available resources

If a person is currently missing, endangered, injured, suicidal, believed to be in immediate danger, or otherwise requires an emergency response, call 911 first.

Do not delay contacting the jurisdictional police department or emergency services while attempting to contact the Constable’s Office.

The Office of the Penn Township Constable is not a full-service police department, fire department, EMS agency, emergency-management agency, or dedicated search-and-rescue team.

Search assistance provided by the Constable’s Office is supplemental to—not a replacement for—the agencies having primary jurisdiction or responsibility for the incident.
